tiens ss + edfc

hi for the race i may be planning to get some new suspension for the car
i was thinkin of gettin tien ss with the edfc, i was planning on gettin these in like 6 months but since i have this thing down in wakefield next week i was thinkin of gettin em sooner.

does anyone know where i can get this done asap in sydney?

any DECENT suspension place can order them and install for u....

id recommend STRAIGHT TALK SUSPENSION in blacktown...
i got my KYB/kings from there with alignment...i get my alignments done there every 6 months. the owner(lou) knows what he is doing especially with mx5's.

Give MX5MANIA a call.. They might be able to sort it out for you..

Also, might want to consider the flex model as it has adjustable height.

The SS also has adjustable height, but by doing so you are also reducing the travel in the suspension, the Flex will allow you to adjust the spring pre-load and ride height independently. The SS however are the only MOT legal coil-overs that I know of, and also have a stiffer spring than a standard flex. If you are not wanting to go too low (which you shouldn't anyway for handling sake) the SS will be perfect.

i stand by getting ss's as the best mod i could have done for the money. edfc is not needed. the rear's are a bit of a pain to get to but its all part of the challange. That said i do plan to get edfc eventually so if you have the dough to spare its probably worth getting them done at the same time.

It is good fun to play with though. You can fiddle with the EDFC while you're on the track and you can really feel the change in balance as you fiddle with it :D

Although it's definitely a case of : 32 clicks, 256 possible combinations, 255 possible ways of buggering up the handling :D :D

SS are about 100lbs softer than Flex in the spring rates - SS=283lb fronts, Flex=392lb fronts.

This page says that the SS's are 392/336, same as the Flex.

Nice catch Brad. :D They have must have changed them. My SS's are 283/200 or therabouts and are late 2005 models. I know another set which was purchased in early 06 which are also 283s as they have now put flex springs in them as they were too soft for a race car. The site also says EDFC not compatible.

We need to keep in mind however that Fulcrum customised the SS when they came out here, so the AU spec could be different. My SS's are EDFC compliant.

There are heaps of springs available for the SS mind you, take a look here.

Not sure what spec the MX5 springs are though. 16,000yen per set of 2, thats $167AUD

They are in, car ride feels awesome, its aus spec so the ride its very enjoyable to drive on aussie roads, even though the car is a lil lower, if anything ride comfort has increased. Very happy, no edfc as of yet but maybe later for the rice factor
