Soft top... Fabric or vynil

Postby ampz » Mon Feb 12, 2007 9:35 pm

Now that the weather has been so great in Sydney  since I've picked up Nessy...

I am looking at replacing the top as it is getting wet in her!

I tried looking in search for previous posts, but it didn't work :frown:

What do you guys think?

There's only $100 difference according to the ebay ones...
Huh?

Fabric for sure - looks way better IMO. I got a fabric top with glass window off ebay last year for my NA - absolutely love it. :)

Yeah, though I can't remember their name off the top of my head. Cheap (mine was $850) and reasonable quality - fitting wasn't too awkward I suppose. A bit of riveting involved.

They look far superior to the original tops. A vast improvement!

Wow!
That looks hot! Thanks Moggy!

I'm not too sure about mohair guys... I think it may be a pain to keep clean... :(

I thought about vynil too Fatty and was nearly sold on it, but i sat in an astra convertible and the fabric one seemed sturdier. I really like the look of the fabric IMO...

Moggy was it a pain to stretch all the wrinkles out? or did they pretty much settle? I recall there being a few wrinkles on a vynil one from ebay.

Cheers

I didn't have any problem with wrinkles as it was so bloody tight! It was quite difficult to put up the first time but after leaving it up for a couple of days the fabric stretched enough to make it pretty easy... :)

Check out page two of my cardomain site (link next to my sig). I got a mohair roof from prestige auto trim with the glass rear window for $1000. Best deal ever. Now I park next to an mx5 with a vinyl roof and they look cheap. Very easy to clean as well. Just wash it when you wash the car and then chamios it and it's as good as new.
