6 speed shifter

Postby mossy » Sat Feb 10, 2007 2:41 pm

Have I got the right shifter for my 6 speed box, the bushing i got from mazda comes no where near close to fitting although their diadram says 1998 speed where mine is a 2002.

I did hear there was a larger ball on some shifters but I have never seen one in NAs or NB. The bush is a press fit and must be forced on but that shifter does look a little different - where's the thread on the top of it gone?

I don't know where the thread has gone, the box was out of a fire damaged car but that wouldn't have destroyed the thread. Maybe this a aftermaket shifter as it looks very short to me, might have to buy a new one.

Just tried it in the gear box slot, I think it is an aftermarket one that is designed to be used without the plastic bushing on the end.
