Mania CAI is in :) BELLOWING NOISE = ADDICTIVE

Postby deez » Sat Feb 10, 2007 1:40 am

Got the Mania CAI installed today by David  Carbon fibre look Simota filter mated with the carbon fibre tubing looks the goods matched against the blue Cusco engine brace! :D

The sound is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I found it pretty interesting as well in that the car sounds normal at anything below 3000rpm, but as soon as you give it some above 3 grand, it absolutely BELLOWS

Performance wise, it felt much more lively, and was more willing to run out to redline. The most noticeable gain is in mid to high revs, where torque is very noticeably stronger.

Can't wait to get X-Force headers, cat, and catback put in!!!!!! (ala Allan's car)

It sounds awesome right? Did David take you out for a fang at the gorge?
And I must've seen your CAI kit then on the shelf when I did my minor service there last week
All carbon fibre look ... sexy indeed

Let us know how the headers, cat and catback will do for the car too once you get them fitted in

Yep :) So addicted was I to the noise that I refused to go home last nite lol...I was driving around the neighbourhood just enjoying the sound

Boss is going to send me to NZ to work for 6 weeks so that doesn't help matters :frown:

It certainly does  Yep as you had suggested earlier I did manage to get David to take me for a run. He was doing 110 on the straight sections before heading into the downhill....crazy man

Btw....interested to know if the performance gain is what you guys have experienced as well after installing the CAI? ie improved power and torque from mid to high range? Or something complete different?

Cheers
Derek

i only really noticed an improvement in top end - in my experience it definately felt much less restricted but i'm not so sure if there was a total dramatic improvement in power.
love opening it up at 3k but

My old car (hi Matt! ) was the same...very addictive to run it out to redline all the time. Was great fun when you stomped on it when there was pedestrians around...

its barely noticable for padestrians.

you can pick it up if you accelerate together with another car up a hill side by side......

has anyone had say a k&n filter on then put on the cold air from maina ?

wondering if there is much of a difference

performance wise not sound wise?

and is anyone running performance filter like a k&n with the enlarged intake system from mania ?
