Strage box under audio in Mk 1

Just received an email from mx5parts.co.uk that they have a limited offer (one week only!!!!) on a few items - so if like me you want to improve the looks of the fascia panel in your Mk 1 with a 1-DIN unit, these really do the job.

Only slightly miffed the offer came only a few days after mine arrived at full retail.... sigh...

If it's just a single din pocket you require, most car audio places sell them.

Supercrap might have them as well.

I got mine from a Subaru dealer.

Based on your model (1990) and the photo of pocket I believe that you have a 1.5Din pocket. Earlier NAs have a 1.5Din headunit. Therefore when you replaced the headunit with a more modern one you were left with an ugly gap. Two ways to resolve this were to buy a new centre console surround from a 1997 NA as this was designed for a 1Din headunit or get a 1.5Din pocket.

I bought the 1.5din cubby hole from MX5parts.co.uk a while back
Price is a bit steep for a bit of plastic, but they do sit flush and nicely in the NA
No ugly gaps at all ... I'd recommend it
