I'm missing the opening round at Oran Park, but hope to be there for the Eastern Creek day at the end of April.
I'll be at Wakefield for the Triple Treat in March. Hoping to purchase seat, fire extinguisher mounted to the front bolts of the passenger seat rails and use a couple of D carabenas and a length of chain as a secondary bonnet restraint, in the near future.
I think that will be all I will need to comply as a road registered Class 2 entrant.

ill see if i can make aprill too... but it will be pushing it
i've made... well almost finished making. a fire extinguisher mount outta alloy checker plate, might have enough for two if you want one matt. will need to buy the extinguisher from bunnings with steel brackets.. and the right size too.
ill have a look and see if i have enough alloy left to make you one and see what size fire extinguisher i have.
where you looking at getting your seat from? im thinking of buying one i can just bolt to the floor or some low mount brackets and just removing it in between events to give max room..

What are you planning on bolting the checker plate to? And how? If you have enough spare, I would appreciate it.
Going to get the gear from Mania and Revolution Racegear here in Newcastle. Desperately want to get into an NA with a Brown Davis and a Sparco Sprint to see whether it is going to be worth the effort or find a second hand driver's seat and let it have a \"foamectomy\" as Astroboysoup put is.
That is the plan anyways.

hey mate, yeah have enough checker plate to make another one. was going to use the passenger seat front bolt holes as you said. if need be ill buy some high tensile bolts through work that are 5-10mm longer so it can go through the seat bracket and the extingusher mount. but i think others in the past have just used the standard seat bolts and gone through both.
let me know what price you get on the seat before you buy and what model. ill ask afew mates and see if anyone knows of some good deals.

im thinking of getting everything removable and just using my dads ute as a chase car and fitting the car out when ariving at each event. i have a mate or two who are keen to be pit bitches dont tell then i said that though hehehe

Was at Mania yesterday, and sat in Alan's NA with roll bar and Sparco Sprint. Should be do-able for me. Alan is a bit taller than me and is competing in CAMS events, drifting and what-not, and is being able to compete with that setup.
Bought myself one of the Autotechnica 6 point harnesses, which is what David is using in his race car. FIA compliance and reaches their \"Use by\" date in 2011. Of course, if I want to use the crotch strap, going to have to purchase a Sparco Ultra as opposed to a Sparco Sprint as the Ultra has the necessary hole for the crotch strap. Not sure how much that is going to cost. Going to keep the stock seat rails at this time.

Save yourself some bucks Matt and buy one of these - same size as the Sprint and mounted easily in my NB, plus they have 5 holes for the harness. Quality is not quite as good as Sparco, but then the price is right... I bought mine (the big arse version ) from these guys and it arrived pronto and well packed.
If you use it as an everyday seat it will wear out quickly from getting in and out when the roof is up - you can't help rubbing the fabric on the right hand bolster. If you just bolt it in for sprints it should last forever though.

Hey BD,
Does this mount to the stock rails easily, or is some modification required?
I'm already looking at having some mounting points welded into the floor for the crotch strap for the harness .

You'll have to drill two new holes in the seat's mounting bars (at the front, back ones are spot on) and the stock rails will bolt up to it. If you want to be lower in the car you could bolt it straight to the floor, but you would need to drill four holes in the floor to do that, and this would not be street legal. You're welcome to check mine out anytime - it's easy to remove.

Its a matter for the organising club I suspect, but I know dual entered cars ran last year in most if not all rounds.

would you be able to fab up your own fixed brackets that were none adjustable but were made in such a way to lower you as much as possible?
would you still be able to mount the crouch strap with it bolted to the floor?
