Which Flywheel with turbo

Postby ZenArcher » Tue Jan 23, 2007 11:39 am

OK,

Just wondering, which is better for use with a turbo.

A standard weight flywheel or a light weight flywheel.

My logic thinking would be that the light weight flywheel would help the car when not on or developing boost to be more revvy ? Or is this not correct.

Boost or not - the weight of a flywheel will determine how hard it is to make it spin AND to make it stop.

Light flywheel = revvy but will struggle more going up a hill or at load.

I would not put a lighter flywheel on if boosting, but that is just my 2 cents.

I had a bought a lighten flywheel for my turbo setup and decided against it as it is only 1.6 and I need the torque down low.so I still have a Fidanza flywheel that has done 3 days work.

I just used a standard flywheel (although off an NB8B though as mine had cracked) for my car, and it seems to do the trick
