The "hot side" is the exhaust side, and the "cold side" is the intake side. The exhaust has the air after combustion, so obviously it is much hotter.

Air from outside is the best though.

Do you really think that the air is cooler on one side than the other? I reckon the difference would would be almost nothing.
I'm not stirring the pot or anything, Just think It's a strange thing for people to think

If you don't think it is colder, put your hand on the exhaust pipe and see what temperature it is, then put your hand on the intake plenum, which is colder? :lol:

hehehe, that reminds me of a story when 2 guys i know moved in together... one of the guys (my next door neighbour) came from a traditional greek family, had been looked after all his life by his mum ... so didn't know how to cook , do the washing, clean etc etc

so anyway, one night sooon after he moved outta home he was cooking chips... he put the oil in the pot. a few minutes later asks his new flatmate \"so how do you know when the oil is hot enough to put the chips in?\"

flatmate jokingly replies \"you just stick yr hand in and test the temperature...\" before he finishes the sentence, he hears the screams coming from the kitchen :shock:

luckilly the burns weren't bad enough to cause serious damage. i still find it funny even after all these years.

The reason for going for the Cold Side as such is it is an easier track to get the air from outside, unless you go into the firewall vent area.

Hmm, I always thought it was because the air really is colder on mthat side.

It's fairly basic as someone has said that the exhaust heats it's side significantly...

Reember the air coming from the mouth of the car flows through and that prevents a lot of the air from the hotside coming to the coldside...
