Guys,

Just had a look at the quantity and consistency of the gearbox fluid. Quantity seems fine. However I was wondering what the consistency and colour should look like?

The oil in the container looks to be a very clear, light colour, almost waterish. And there are black deposits sitting on the bottom....

What does this mean?

If you are talking about the gearbox oil then it sounds OK if there is no metal in it. It should be about the colour of honey but have a thinner consistency. Gear oil has a dsitinctive odour too.

Have you checked the hydraulic oil quantity and checked for htydraulic system leaks yet?

There are black / dark coloured deposits at the bottom though....would that be metal?

If so, what does that indicate?

Thanks....

Not sure how to check the hydraulics however I've booked myself into Mania for tomorrow. Hopefully the answer and solution isn't overly expensive :?

Not sure about the dark spots. I'll be interested to hear the outcome though.

Hi guys,

Spent the arvo at Mania yesterday. After taking my car for a short drive, David concluded that it should be the clutch. Apparently my car had a lot of slack at the top of the clutch travel range. Hence even when my clutch was pressed to the floor, it may not be fully engaged per se, which leads to gear crunching.

He adjusted the tension and took up the slack. Then drained the gearbox oil for thicker Motul oil. I feel that I need to put more effort into changing gears now however there hasn't been any gear crunching (yet).

So....problem *kind of* solved :!:

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys :)

Oh also had some chassis braces put in...haha...can't make a long trip to Mania without putting SOMETHING in

Sounds like it was freeplay adjustment then. Good news. :)
