Some Recent Mods...

Postby RaYmO » Sun Jan 14, 2007 9:23 pm

Hi Folks,

Had some time lately so finally got to install some bits that have been sitting around for a while.

Here are some pics (if you hate bling... look away NOW! 8) )

1st Mod - Rays TE37 Replicas

Got some bad gutter rash on one of these rims (wasnt from me... I bought them like that honest!)

I couldnt get a proper pic cos my driveway was too narrow, hope to get a better shot of the car out soonish.

2nd Mod - AWD Gauge

This took me AGES to install... end result was worth it I think 8)

Now I just gotta change the other green illumination in the cabin to orangey/red - should be done in a few weeks time... (I will have some extra bulb covers if anyone is interested in doing the same thing)

3rd Mod - Nardi Classic Steering Wheel (360mm)

This is how they look together:

Well Ive almost finished with my interior, just have a few more things I need to do (mainly a polished voodoo knob to replace my Isotta one and the change of Green Illumination to Orange)

when / if my momo wheel needs replacing, one of those nardi's is at the top of my list.

do they come with black spokes instead of the silver? i've only ever seen them with silver.

Did you know that red light induces eye fatigue much more easily than say, soothing green or amber light? I hope yours is more orange than red. Blue light plays havoc to our vision too, and that's why blue headlights seem to flicker and so damn annoying to oncoming traffic.

Hi Stan,

I totally agree, the gearknob doesnt really fit my interior right now...

The Isotta Drake Gearknob was one of the first things I got when I bought the car... I was young and naive then, please forgive me for not going down the path of the voodoo earlier LOL

Im thinking Voodoo but cant decide whether to go polished (to match the bling) or pearl (to match the nardi wheel)... decisions decisions...

Yeah the lighting is actually amber and not red (dont think I set the aperture in my camera properly).

The bulb covers that came with the AWD gauge face was orange.

I am ordering a whole bunch of orange bulb covers via clubroadster.net... will end up with 40 or so but will only need 4 (can't really buy smaller quantities so I thought Id buy some more and leave some for the "for free" thread)

Either way, Im glad I didnt go blue with the interior illumination!

go the pearl Raymo, otherwise your other half will be forever throwing something over your knob whilst it's exposed to the sun.........

Like the wheels, LOVE the gauges. The steering wheel seems to fit the look perfectly as well. Very impressed! :)

yeh i don't like the gear knob but the rest is very nice.

instead of the voodoo you can get a razo copy. just the same but cheaper :)

or you can go CF like me.. but that won't match the rest of your car interior

looks good mate.

how do u find the Nardi? not too big?

i had to give up on my old 330 Nardi cos it's too small and 360 is too big.

350 is just right so i got Momo instead.

i also considered AWD. i wanted white dials but i dun really like AWD's white ones so i got these ones instead and they're half of the price for AWDs:

How can that be? I thought red light was the least invasive of all light colours and allows for maximum vision in the dark as your pupils do not close up as much when they see it, hence taking less time to dilate between looking at the lights and looking at the dark road?

I thought this was the reason why all astronomers have red cellaphane around their torches and why all darkrooms are lit with a red light?

Hey Phil,

I find the Nardi 360 a lil on the large side...

I previously had the d-cut momo 330mm (I think) and that was pretty ideal.

Unfortunately the top section of the smaller 330mm is in line of site of the top side to my gauges which is why I went the 360.

Now that I can see the gauges in full view, it feels wierd. The wheel is also slightly easier to turn (or it feels that way)... which is nice as I dont have power steering (nor do I want to be a girly man and install it either... COW TIME!)

I wouldnt mind trying out the Nardi Deep corn one day... I love that wheel!
