Has anyone used Sydney Motor Trimmers to install a NA soft top? And if so, what was your experience? Cheers.

He's got the installation of genuine ones down to fine art now, it's just the eBay ones that bring on the "magic words". :)

The end result seems fine - they're just more fiddly to install. The factory ones come with everything you need, the eBay ones don't (tension cables in particular), the rivets they supply are useless, mounting holes are missing or misaligned, etc.

They do go on, but they're a lot more work than the factory ones.

We've got a Robbins roof on order for a customer too, so it'll be interesting to see what they're like to install.

I got a quote from them for $450, pretty cheap I think. I am about to call to try to book it in. Will let you know how it goes.

No luck I'm afraid. They were shut over Christmas/New year. Will try again soon when I get a minute.

AMR in Petersham quoted me $315 to install the top. It's just gone in so I can't give any feedback as yet about the quality of the job.

Got it done

Postby Norimike » Tue May 15, 2007 12:35 am

I eventually got it done at Sydney. Its a decent job not great, but no rain comes in. ( not that it rains anymore anyway). They put a couple of extra straps on it to make it fit, they didnt really know how to fit the Prestige Auto one I think. I asked my wife who was dropping it off to give them the instructions, but they said they didnt need them. They probably did. The rear plastic window in 98% fitted well. The 2% bugs me when I have absolutely nothing else to think about.

So I guess its a guarded recomendation. Make it clear what top you have. Make sure they except the instructions and should be fine.

Good review, Nori -- thanks for the follow-up.
