More Bling

Postby Okibi » Sat Jan 13, 2007 3:13 am

I've got a car show coming up next weekend so I thought it was a good excuse to get my cam cover polished.

Image

I also gave them the polished intake manifold to spend some extra time and get into the details a little better.

To match I ran my DIY pod heatshield though the buffer

And the Mazda Exhaust Header Heatshield

I also took the insulation off the blingtake so it will look good for the show.

To match the shine i've got some socket head bolts and stainless washers
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I think about $150 or so. I had to buy 2 mandrel bends, a reducer and a straight pipe.

Pay someone to do the welding for me and polish the pipe up.

 no pics of it installed I don't have a lens for my camera yet.

I still need to remove my intake, put all the bits that was missing on from the intake I bought onto it.

I don't know how much of a bastard that job will be :?

not sure if this applies to you, but just happend to read this recently

\"If you do replace the factory intake plumbing with an aftermarket or a DIY system then make sure to keep the (anti)resonance chamber. It has been dyno proven to provide 4 ft lbs of torque from 3000-4000 rpm. If you cannot use the OEM piece then use the stand-alone unit from the 90-93 Protege/91-93 Ford Escort GT\"

I designed the intake to have a little more volume than the standard unit.

It (together with a few other mods) made it the most powerful NB (nat asp) in our club at the last dyno day, so I assume it's working for me.

no need to \"assume\" anything when the dyno results \"prove\" it for you!

nice work :D

Well, dynos aren't 100% accurate and I have other mods that might (or might not) improve performance.
