Can't help with the size, but don't you want to feel the A/C on a hot day??

No side mounted pods available? Seen them for the NA's.

Just buy a black bracket and gauge cup/holder for it and mount it just above the air vent where it is in that picture.

Not sure why mounting a boost guage in one of the air vents would affect airconditioning other then not being able to use that vent, could someone please explain?

Secondly wouldnt having the boost guage in the vent be much tidier and less inconspicious?

I managed to find a FAQ and the boost guage size for an NB air vent, is 2\" 1/6

I have a boost guage in my drivers side vent. With the recent hot weather I missed the cool air from that vent. I will probably replace the boost guage with one that will mount in a 3 hole bracket that I have under the stereo headunit.

Fair point, although i dont really use my air con that much and when i do use it, i think the air from the other vents is more then adequate.

There's this option, although its for left hand drives.

I didn't know you were looking for A-Pillar holders. Look around and you will find some...I think Miata Mania and a few UK Miata shops have them for RHD. In my opinion A-Pillar holders are the best. A bit of a pain to intstall but they look nice and tidy and the gauges are easily viewed without looking to far away from the road...always in the corner of your eye.
