sorry all, this is abit of an off topic but just wondering with fitting aftermarket seats...whether you could just bolt-on and drive (with the intention and in the process of mod platting) or will you need approval etc prior to fitting them on, also what are the process of getting the legalities sorted?..some contacts?
Cheers

I think they were $399.
How much lower (if any) do you sit with these compared to the OEM seats?

My Cobras have me sitting around 5mm higher than the stock NA6 seats.
Using the factory NA6 seat rails I don't think it is possible to have an aftermarket seat sit lower. Later models may be different.

Looks like I might go out an buy some NB seats then. The last thing I need is to sit higher than I currently am. Being over 6foot, I currentl have to look under the windscreen surround (if the hardtop is on or the soft top is up) as it is when I am first in line at the traffic lights to be able to see the lights change colour. Top down, I look over the top of the windscreen surround. But I also have problems with the steering wheel and only just being able to see my guages. So no aftermarket seats for me then.

I got the Sparco Sprints (for both Driver and Passenger)... they look cool, are great when you hoon around corners, but theres no graceful way of getting in & out of the car...
I find the back support in the Sprint isnt there so I'll need to purchase the additional cushions soon before my back gives way.
Aside from that its all good!

Apart from the pain of getting in and out are there any other cons about a race seat, what about long trips in them especially if they're the non-reclinable bucket type?

I have the sprints also
in regards to long trips?
they SUCK!
I did Brisbane sydney brisbane in a weekend and it bites!
have also done sydney melbourne GOR melbourne sydney over 8 days
day to day its not to bad getting in and out the main thing is the seat belt clip as to sit comfortably in the car it has to go through the hole in the seat
but when you get in to the seat first it is a pain in the ars3 literally!
and as said before there is no back support for long trips!
all said and done though for the time I am in it now I enjoy it!
the one thing you probably wouldn't count on (and I didn't)
Is when I first put them in the car i probably weighed 75 kilo's
Now I am lucky to stay under 95kg's it makes a substantial difference
to the size of the seat! IT GETS SMALLER!

Now its a snug fit but after time can be frustrating
I guess its something that you have to get used to though.

If you had a choice between stock and race seat for an everyday car, which would you pick? Are the buckets something you could get used to or something you'll end up regretting. Has anyone ever revert back to stock seats from buckets, and for what reason other than they've exceed the seats capacity.

It has been on my mind for some time
but everytime i weigh it up i cant for go the race seat
even if at times its uncomfortable
if there was a better seat out ther I would buy it but I cant afford two bride seats and I don't like any of the ones made for the mazda so mine will stay!
Pretty sure I have no seats left to change it back to now anyway!

I have one of these.
They can be had from racegear type shops.
Makes a huge difference to the long distance comfort of the fixed back seat.

All I want to know from this thread is:
Which aftermarket seat, on stock NA rails, is going to ensure that a 172cm tall driver, with a helmet on, is going to pass the CAMS 50mm helmet to rollbar regulation?
Thanks!
Matt
