How about we go with this source if we haven't heard anything positive back from Mania or Quantum by COB tomorrow?

I have fired off an email to simone, just know that they are sometimes slow to reply, so expecting a responce tomorrow might not happen.

I gave them a call this morning and Simone is going to look into it and give me a call back. Figured this would be quicker than waiting for them to action the e-mail. 8)

Simone gave me a price of $395 plus ~$20 shipping for shipping (this is with the group buy discount applied), lead time is roughly 10 days as they come from the US.

I've gone through the pictures fairly closely (had my laptop next to my engine bay) and I can't see any fitment issues due to the RHD, so I don't know if I can justify spending an extra $100 for support. This might be valuable to you guys though?

Any word from Quantum PT?

No word from Quantum

It is much cheaper to get one delivery to Aus, and then we freight it up/down.

Anyone know how big the dimensions of the packaging are?

Aric said the price he gave me is for two shipments (two intakes to QLD and two to NSW). He said the package would be too big to ship if it had the four intakes together, so I'm guessing the box is fairly big.

Is your supplier able to match Aric's pricing or do you want me to place the order?

He's one of the guys at http://www.mx5garage.com/ and a member of the http://www.mazda-speed.com/ forum.

The special price is because we are members of the Mazda Speed forum, I'm fairly sure that's where most of the members get their intakes from. On the other hand I've never bought anything from him, so if all our money goes missing I don't want to be held personally responsible! :?

PT is going to check to see if he has to pay any fees for international purchases, and if not then we can all transfer the cash directly to him. Blackster and C+C are you guys cool with that?

Cheers,
Tim

Yeah, he'll deliver to Sydney (both Sydney intakes to the one address).

Aric would prefer if we did the one transaction, so as long as PT's credit card has no fee for international payments, I think we should all just do an Internet banking transfer to PT's account. I spoke to PT on the phone and he's fine to do this. The invoices will come with the intake packages.

Looks like mania has come out a little expensive, personally I would be prepared to pay a little extra if it meant that we get some kind of insurance or help with aftersales service if any of us ran into trouble. We would likely get more help from a local dealer, then buying from an alledged overseas forum member that knowone knows.

I have fired off an email to simone asking if she can improve on the price a bit, but know that it will probably be impossible to match that price because of dealer discounts, shipping, mark up etc.

Sorry guys, im not trying to be a pain nor is this a shameless plug for mania, happy to go with quantum. Just want to be safe. Lets see if they can improve on price a bit before we write them off?

I'm not trying to having a go at you; what kind of trouble do you expect to come across? The intake itself isn't too complex and I'd be fairly confident to attack mine straight away. Have you read through the installation procedure?

If you're worried about the risks buying from Aric, we could always start a thread on the Mazda Speed forum and see what the other members have to say about him?

It doesn't look like Quantum are too serious about our business so I'd be inclined to not go with them based just on that.

I got no problem with the installation guide, it fairly straight foward. My only concern is assurance that we get what we pay for and if there are any problems that we have some sought of fall back.

Simone has emailed me back saying that she isnt able to move much on price, its costing her $238 USD to buy, excluding tax/duty and freight. If that is her cost, then its justified. I gather through aric we are not going to be paying tax/duty, how will it get through customs, will it be sent under a gift clause?

As you say quantum doesnt seem to interested, therefore i guess we have explored all local resellers options. If the mazdaspeed boys have purchased from him are happy and his price doesnt sound to good to be true, via a thread. Im happy.

It's not sent as a gift, we just don't pay GST/duty on items less than a certain value (I think it's at least AU$800).

Here's a thread I've posted up, the results look promising:
