Help! Removing brake disc

Hi,

Just wondering if you have any pointers into removing the front brake disc? I've unbolted the calliper already and the disc just doesn't want to come out. Anything else I need to unbolt?

Whack the crap out of it.

I used a heavie hammer & a piece of wood to soften the blow on metal to metal

whack it, but be sensible about it

decent size rubber mallet is a better option, & yes, bang the crap out of it

Get a 10mm bolt and screw it into the little hole on the brake disc between the wheel studs. Keep tightening it and you'll hear a 'crack' and the disc will come off.

So it should come out without the need to remove the center bolt/bearing thing?

Yes - no need to pull the hub bolt - use the 10mm bolt method - the threaded hole in the disc is designed for it.

I used the 10mm bolt method and the disc was out in no time

. Thanks a lot for the advice. I think the disc hasn't been out for the odd 17 years of it's life cos there's so much rust and crap at the back :lol:

PS: Don't know how I'd live without you guys, haha! Else I would have been trying to get the hub bolt out with a 29mm socket and a huge breaker bar :shock:

I'm really glad to see everything went well! I take it you are installing the bigger stuff (i think it was you who bought Matty's stuff?).

I just have one question though... :oops:

What does FTW stand for? I'm usually pretty good with these, but I can't figure this one...

Na, I didn't buy Matty's good stuff, but i know who has them

I think he needs it more than me since he has a turbo NA6 which was running on NA6 brakes :shock:

FTW = For the win. Just a funny acronym that's been going around for the past year in other forums I go to. There's also FTL, which is 'for the loss'.
