Yeh, as usual that's a good dose of clarity there CT but i'm going to research some more. There are 3 things in life that are too expensive. Kitchens,Curtains and MX5 radiators! I put an automatic radiator in my race car and it runs very cool on the track up here in sunny QLD. They are approximately 35-40 mil which is 10mil thicker than the standard 25mil. I got mine from Red Devil radiators brand new (Tanks and Core) for $295. 
This would be a cheap way for a part time track car IMHO.

Hi Neil. The radiator comes from Just Jap.com but there is a bit of work involved to make them suit the MX5. I'm hoping to bring them to market after some track testing. It's still early days but I can tell you that they will be so well priced that I doubt if anyone would go to the trouble.

That's what I'm using, under $400 and does the job for me, although I've wanted an alum one for rice factor for a while.
Definately interested in what AL comes up with...
