We discussed a Great Ocean Road cruise on thursday nights coffee meet. Has a great turnout but requires an early start to miss traffic.

Treasure hunt?

Postby mikey mx5 » Fri Sep 22, 2006 8:30 pm

Hi,
I'm not a member yet but bought my baby a few months ago now.

I was thinking of a treasure hunt night, where you have to drive around and spot things or do tasks in a certain area???

What do you think? Dumb idea???

Mike

\"First Run of Summer\" will most probably be to the Dromana Drive In (partly beacuse of your feedback that it would be a good idea)!- keep looking at www.mx5vic.org.au for further updates closer to 02/12/06.

Thanks for your interest peoples!

Not at all Mike - because of interest of quite a few in the Club and on here, we will be running a mystery event with all the bells and whistles ( literally) in March 2007 -working on content now - should be great fun and something different!

Keep an eye on the this forum or Club website for further details.

sounds great...

I have been quite put off going on runs lately.. they always seem to end up at a winery.. :? Dont get me wrong there's nothing wrong with that, i think there are too many winery runs, it seems to appeal more to an older crowd..

There should be more workshop meetings, and fun cruises.. like treasure hunts, or bbq days..

I could be up for a boxing day drive, seems that the rest of the state will be attending all the sales!

Also a treasurehunt for next year sounds like a great idea.

Calendar for next year - CONFIRMED until July 2007

Postby joni » Thu Dec 14, 2006 6:27 am

Hi All,

Calendar is up on the Club Website www.mx5vic.org.au

We have taken into consideration your feedback and am pleased to say there are a few things that may be of interest ... and NO winery days til June!

Feb - Midnight run though Reefton Spur (Sat nite) by someone familiar to you all
March - Mystery run incl. prizes, clues, navigation around Mornington Penninsula
March - Go Kart nite versus the very competitive GT Car Club
April - Anakie Run with the famous Big Burger Man
May - BBQ run to Seymour includes a game of bare foot bowls
June - To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the opening of the GOR, we are doing a very special run down there (limited spots on this one) WATCH THIS SPACE!
June - Progressive lunch in the Yarra Valley ... 3 courses @ 3 different venues

Keep those ideas coming cause we do listen to you and try to organise what you have suggested ...

Should be a great six months,

Cheers,

Joni

Hi Joni,

I'm thinking of a weekend (Alpine) run starting in Lillydale, over the spur and on to Alexandria, then a less exciting run up to Benalla, Glenrowan.

Stop for Lunch at Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre (I might be able to get a deal), then on to Myrtleford, over the hills to Mt Beauty, up the road to Falls Creek (very twistie). Stay over night in Falls, I can get accommodation for as low as $20 per person at a club Ski Lodge in the off season.

In the morning, over the back of Falls to Omeo, Swifts Creek, Bruthen, Bairnsdale and on to Sale for Lunch, then work our way back to Melbourne in the afternoon....?

Cheers, Rob.

ps. This can't happen in Winter due to road closure.

Mmmmmmm ... that sounds like great fun and great roads from memory!

Anyone else interested in a weekend thing? they are usually really fun & you get to know people a little better cause you are shacked up with them at night with no little cars to hide in!

Lets chat - - - I will PM you - - - I am off on the SA weekend away next weekend, looking forward to that - down to Mt Gambier,

Sounds great Rob! Joni :D
