Replacing Front Wheel bearings on NA6

Postby Robbo107672 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 8:08 pm

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if this is a simple job ?

Mine bearing is finally on the way out after making road noise for a long time. (I wasn't sure it was the bearing for a long time) I need to replace them when the parts arrive tomorrow and don't want to start the job if it's going to get beyond a fairly simple back yard job. I have done plenty of holden type wheel bearings before but have not see the sealed units on the 5's..

Thanks, Rob.

Rob, where did you get your hubs from & how much did you pay?

I got them through a family contact so was a 'special price'

RE Auto's in Melbourne... Best price I got at retail was $160 each from Bursons..
I saved about 20% on this in the end by going through my contact at RE...

Mazda wanted $225 each... geezz..

All fitted last night with no problems but that dust cap is a mongrel to get off..

Most bearing places sell new hubs...they are much cheaper than getting them from mazda.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

I bought a SH hub from Mania. They had some NB half cuts. easy to fit and so far  no problems Cost me $65 as i recall.
