Soft top, hard top, no top?

The soft top normally folds to allow the hard top to be installed, or you can spend a few hours removing it all together.

So if you have the soft top folded, it'd be visible at the back yeah? But you can take that off all together and put it on later if you want?

You can get a soft top cover to cover the soft top (try saying that 3x fast!) when it is folded down - Then put the hard top on top of it.

Thats a nice way of hiding the soft top from view - You could choose to save the weight and remove the Soft top altogether.

I was thinking of that option, but the way Sydney weather has been behaving of late, I think the Soft top is staying where it is

I seriously considered removing the soft top altogether too and going hardtop or no top, but opted to keep it, just incase, you never know what the weather might do when you are a couple hours away from home and your hardtop on the front lawn.

There was a 'quick release' kit available a year or two ago, look in the 'New to the market' section on Miatanet, aka the Big Forum. Couldn't find it in the vendor listing when I looked last ... . Kit apparently (iirc) replaced some of the fixed pins/rivets/whatever etc with nut-and-bolt or similar to facilitate quick (20 min) removal and replacement.

I suspect what killed the idea was the fragile plastic rain rail - regular handling not recommended, especially after they get brittle with a bit of age. HOWEVER, in the same place you can now find a neophrene rain rail - put the two together and you are in business to save ~20 kgs
