hey,
I temporarily removed my aircon belt to change a fan belt. the aircon belt tensioner pulley fell off while I was driving recently and I only just got around to putting it back on. but if I put it back on where it came from the pullet runs into the bracket so I'm obviously missing some washers or a spacer of some sort. anyone pulled one of these off recently or be able to have a look for me?
If theres something I don't have any more I'd be looking for one to buy so if you've got a spare aircon setup sitting around let me know.
cheers,
clayton

Going from memory here, but behind the rotating pulley should be a thick metal part. The bolt that goes through the centre of the pully also passes through this thick metal part and then in to a metal grove. Also passing through the metal part is a very long vertical bolt. The long vertical bolt is used to raise and lower the pulley, thereby adjusting the air-cond drive belt tension. When you remove the drive belt you would need to slight loosen the nut in the middle of the pulley to allow it to slide up or down by adjusting the verical bolt.
Sounds like the centre nut/bolt has fallen out and the thick metal part has dropped off. If you go to a mazda dealer (or search on www.miata.net) you can have a look at the Micro-fiche which will show an exploded view of what I'm trying to describe. Also a manual such as a Haynes or similar will help as well.

Have a look here. This link contains PDF copies of the Mazda MX-5 micro-fiche parts breakdown. It will help you confirm which parts maybe be missing.
