Tyre Size for 17\"x7

Postby Roderic » Sun Nov 26, 2006 3:52 pm

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anyone knew if I had a set of 225/45 tyres and planning on getting a set of 17x7\" rims would they fit on an NA?

Regards
Rod.

I wouldn't put on 17s if it is an NA, period. I have 17s on right now and I'm taking them out and putting on 15s. I don't mean to be harsh, but the reason being that they make the car slower, reduce the sensitivity in steering inputs, makes the car feel less agile in cornering, and reduces ride quality as well. These are my personal observations only of course.

I have 17x7 right now, and am using 205/40/17. There is probably half an inch of clearance to the suspension on the inside. 225 may rub up against the suspension.

I was running the 225/45 tyres on my 17x7, they did rub the guards but only if the steering wheel was turned and I was going up a driveway at speeds greater than 10kph.

Had got a bodyshop to fold the inner lips in a bit and they no longer rubbed.

Ive got 205s now and the ride is just that lil bit more harsher...

When I got tyres fitted to my 17's I asked them about 215/45 tyres and they said there would be no problem with them. I got them fitted and it rubbed really badly on my mudguard. Took them back and got 205/40 instead. No problems since. I love the 17's on my car and the lower profile tyre makes it look awesome. Quite happy with the ride as well even though it is a bit harsher and the grip is tremendous.

If your really keen and you can fit 18's
Money can't buy Talent, but it can buy Horsepower and sometimes that's enough

No he can't! Won't let Rod get any more than 17's.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
