SP \"T\" Piece Mod removed

Postby Hammer » Tue Nov 14, 2006 7:01 pm

Now that its getting hotter, I've temporary removed the 'T' Piece mod of my SP.

Over the weekend, it started \"pinging\" at high revs. First time its done this since putting in the mod in August this year.

I was quite suprise to hear the noise as we'd had several hot days during winter/autumn and never experienced it.

I'll just put it back on next winter.

Is/has any other SP owners with this mod experienced this lately?

No pinging from my SP Hammer.
Perhaps you picked up some not-so-good fuel somewhere which isn't the octane rating its supposed to be.

You mean some servo's would be dodgy enough to sell 91 as 95, and 95 as 98?

I thought of that, as it started happening after I filled it with V-Power (supposedly its 98 Octane) at the Shell located on Pennant Hills Road (opposite Alto BMW).

That fill-up was also from an almost empty tank (5 litres left). I always use Optimax (or V-Power as it is now called) and never had this experience. So hopefully it's just dodgy fuel.

I'm just waiting until I refill it again (Twice) before putting back the 'T' Piece mod for some comparison.

Haha I know that servo quite well.....I used to frequent it during my graveyard shifts (worked at the railway station just across the road)......after getting to know the guys there pretty well, and hearing some of the dodgy stuff they did.....it doesnt surprise me that they'd have dodgy fuel

I have only had pinging from Optimax on about three seperate occasions in summer. Thats why my SP only got a diet of BP Ultimate or Vortex 98.

I don't trust the Shell fuels.

There's an easy $19.95 cure for the problem. Go to your local Indian Take-Away and order a serve of Butter Chicken, Beef Vindaloo (make sure it's the r-e-a-l-l-y HOT one....) and a serve of garlic flavoured Naan bread. Then...

...eat said meal, with some steamed rice if you prefer.

The "pong" created will offset the "ping"...and if all else fails, you could take up table-tennis?
