Does the SE have a intake air temp sensor.....if so, could it be detecting that the air temp is too high and is reducing/cutting off boost.

My flyin' miata ECU does this if the air intake temp is 108c and above. I have seen the intake temp (after intercooler) get to over 50c in stop start traffic on a cool day, so could imagine it getting much higher on a warm/hot day.

Just my 2cents worth.

Had the same problem a few times in mine in the first 10,000 km. According to the guys on the US Mazdaspeed forum, this is a pretty common problem in SE/Mazdaspeeds.

Definitely seemed like an ECU problem to me. Immediately after the bog, at the next set of lights it idled at 1500 RPM for a couple of seconds then slowed to about 4-500 RPM, almost stalling, then returned to the normal ~850 RPM idle and after that was fine.

My dealer couldn't find a problem, but reset the ECU and I haven't had it in the last 30.000 km. Maybe this'll help.

Mine did it at least once in the warmth (25 odd degrees C) and at least once in the coolth (about 15 degrees C). I originally thought lack of extremes, maybe temperature doesn't come into it after all.

That sounds like BOV leak from the vacuum line. What you explained happened to me because the vacuum line wasnt secured properly, since re securing it i havent had that issue. Borris you might want to check the connection from your vacumm line to your GFB.
