Sounds interesting. I'm really happy that you have achieved such a satisfying result.

Jules

Thanks Jules, I am rapt. I was a bit concerned that I would stuff up a car that was already good, but that is certainly not the case.

For me and what I do with the car it was also a fairly big investment and I initially debated that as well.

Now I reckon it was money well spent!!!

Yeah that's right. Tomei recommends 110/110 cam timing which is exactly what you get if you simply bung in the stock cam wheels.

I put in the adjustable gears anyway (at the stock position) but given that the cams give a nice even spread of torque, I've never been tempted to muck around with it (it would also require effort and I can't be bothered) :D.

You have probably explained this many times before but what cams/ ECU are you using?

Peter.

I got the Tomei "Pon"cams, installed at the stock 110/110 timing:

The ecu is stock, with just a simple Apexi SAFC piggyback/interceptor.

My power gain from the cams alone wasn't quite that dramatic, 8rwkw. But if I look at my dyno chart from before I fitted and tuned the SAFC, it was 74rwkw, same as you, so yeah a 16rwkw gain from cams and ecu is pretty similar to your results, except you got a touch more of course :)

The Tomei's look like a good option for an easy 10hp on the stock ECU 8) for around 1k all up they would be a nice addition to the normal Int/Header/Ex mod.

Yup....87rwkw on the stock ecu on my car, 90rwkw with the tuned piggyback turned on. So yes it works very well, maybe a tiny little bit "cleaner" when tuned but not a big difference. And on a stock ecu I reckon the gain's more like 10rwkw.
