Do all years use the same PS rack?

Postby apsilon » Fri Nov 10, 2006 4:29 pm

Hoping someone here knows the answer. Do all years of NA and NB models use the same power steering rack or are there different racks for different years?

Apparently the \"Miata\" rack is fairly simple converison for my 240Z project but there was no mention of a specific year so I'm wondering if I need to narrow it down further or I can just grab any MX-5 rack?

Thanks.

NA and NB racks are different....mainly in the mounts,NA has brackets to hold it on,NB bolts on.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

The article mentioned modifying the brackets so my guess is an NA then.

Thanks.

mmmm's right :) I've always wanted one so when they didn't release the NC Roadster Coupe in Winning Blue.....

If there's any interest once I have the website for the project up I'll post a link in the offtopic section.

1.6 and 1.8 have slightly different racks, interchangeable but the valving is different (1.8s have more feel).

I'm very interested. I have always had a soft spot for the early Z Cars, and any early Dattos having owned 2.

Was wondering what was wrong with the 260 until I got to the interior shots. Now I can't use that scheme on my 240 as it won't be an original one off

\"the interior is better than it looks in the pictures\" :? I think the pictures get the message across just fine on the state of the interior.
