tyre pressures

ok i know alot of ppl run very high pressure but when i did a sprint recently i found i couldnt really get enough traction till i let mine down to about 28psi front and 26psi rear. i thought this to be extremely low...opinions? for the record my tyres are 205/50R15 potenza GIII (won't make that mistake again)

what sort of tyre pressures do other ppl tend to run for track? obviously this will vastly differ for tyre size, compound and track surface etc. but i am just curious of all your ideas on the subject

Last track day I tried 32 psi cold all round.
Might try 30 psi cold on 8 Nov.
Tyres 195/50 15 Pirelli Dragon which seem to have stiff sidewalls.

ok, its good to see im not the only one who doesnt rum 40-50psi. its amazing how much the car did slide around with even mid 30's

I was running 40psi cold, and feel was better, however it was eager to let go as you say. I tried them at 36psi cold, and that made them feel floatier, but they want to hold on longer now. This is for hard driving only, 32psi for dd. I will be trying 32psi for tomorrow.

BTW, i'm running 195/50/15 Nankang NKIIs chinese budget sports tyre. They grip WAY better than I would expect for $85 a corner.

I tried low pressures on the RT615's and hated it, seemed too squirmy after talking to ASE05 i upped to 35 hot and it was a lot better.

35 hot is probably not far off 28 cold.

Depends on the tyres but I find about 26-28 cold is good on the old RT215's.

i found that the pressure seems to rise around 2-3psi when the tyres warm up.

Is there any power at QR? just thinking it might be an idea to take a little compressor so we can play around with tyre pressures and have the ability to pump them up a little if we go too far.

Or is somebody already taking one?

there is one there, on the wall of the shed closest to the QR admin building. It has a tyre pressure gauge on it too.

When i filled my tyres to 36cold, they were 41psihot that day.
