you can probably guess the topic from the title. The question: do 5's go quicker with the hardtop on or off?
Obviously the top wieghs a bit, but without it the car is less aerodynamic.
any opinions welcome im sure everyone will have thier own
roof on or off?

Faster? Roof on. There is no way the extra weight will outweigh (forgive the pun) the aerodynamic benifit of the hardtop.
Doesn't look as good though...

The perfect example of this was as follows:
NB8A, $1600 worth of exhaust (82kW?), roof down, 1/2 tank of fuel, driver only
NA6, $300 worth of exhaust (70kW?), driver and passenger, 1/2 tank fuel, hardtop on
Both chasing eachother through btm of queen mary falls outside of boonah, NB was WOT and NA was slowly walking away....
NOTE NA6 driver did have much bigger testicals than NB driver in the corners, but this was in a straight line... at very naughty speeds
Yes, roof up makes a HUGE difference to top end speed

I only have a soft top.
I've done the tests at Phillip Island and there's about 20km/h difference in favour of roof up at the end of the straight.
Doing the same tests at Winton I found there was only about a 5km/h advantage still in favour of roof up.
Top speed at PI is about 195km/h and Winton is about 150km/h. Therefore the faster you go the greater ther roof up benefit is.
Hope this helps.

#35 Someone spent billions building these roads and you have to drive on the grass!
