i know it's not an mx5, but this guy seems to think his 5th injector works pretty well. i was thinking of trying this out myself. dunno yet.

where do people usually fit the 5th injector in an mx5? in the inlet piping somewhere, or tapped into the manifold? i think the avo one is in the manifold ?

anyway, you can run a fifth injector on the stock ecu by fitting a \"piggyback\" of sorts from jaycar. they have a few options for this costing from about $40 to $80. and then run yr fuelling from a dfa, which is $80, and can accomadate bigger injectors if you chooose to do that, or stick with the current ones and use a 5th injector. it'll work either way. so , that covers everything but timing retard, for which you can use the bipes piggyback thing which is about $370, i think ? . so, it'll end up costing more than a standalone megasquirt ecu, but it'll be running on the stock ecu.

Well avo run a fifth injector for their stage 1, and i think stage 2 setups. It goes into the intake piping just before the throttlebody. It can't be too bad, if they use it in their setups. Thats why they can be road regestered legaly, as they use the Turbolink piggyback, and not a total replacement computer.

Been having a squiz around ebay today, and spotted the Greddy E-Manage Ultimate.

Does anyone know if the greddy e-manage ultimate is any good? I have been reading around the miata.net forum, and they seem to think they are great.

Seems like it can run extra injectors, and even upgraded injectors. It controls timing on boost, you can run a map sensor with it, and you can do a whole lot of other stuff with it.

sounds like its the one for me.

Well after some serious reading up about the e-manage ultimate, i have decided to take the plunge. It seems that it can do everything i need it to do. Run bigger injectors, advance and retard timing, control boost, and i can run a map sensor instead of a afm.

ill let u know how it all goes when i get it.

good luck with the ultimate install...IMo they are more trouble than they are worth...waaay to complicated than is required for a MX5. im running an emanage blue which is fantastic.
the e manage blue can control two channels of extra injectors .Each channel fires from one of the CAS injector pulses ...you can hook up four injectors with two per channel and i beleive you use channel 1 for cylinders 1 and 4 ch2 for 2 and 3.
the emanage can also control bigger injectors in the stock location, im using 330cc injectors from a 1800BP turbo with great results... everything you ever wanted to know about putting an emanage on an mx is here...

Thanks mate,

I have been reading up on the miataturbo forums for the past few days. The e-manage ultimate does look really complicated. The data logging it has looks the business though, I was going to run a boomslang harness to make the install that little bit easier.

I think ill hang out for a couple months and read up before i go diving in head first.

Buy a LINK and plug it straight in. Problem solvered.

Suppose youre going to give me twice the money of a e-manage to pay for it too... Plus the link is a full stand alone ecu not a piggyback like i wanted. The link is a easier option, but its illegal for me to run..

cheers
Ryan :D

Understand your comments about the cost but I bought my LINK secondhand from En Zeed for NZD400, so that was about AUD350 at the time. Just keep your ear to the ground and you'll find anything cheap enough.

The LINK can run as a piggyback. Just leave the OEM ECU in place to control things like A/C idle up and thermo fans.

Not trying to convince you to get a LINK but more to ensure you are considering every option (for instance there is currently a new Wolf 3D on ausrotary for $750).

the emanage blue has the same data logging as an ultimate...i dont know why people say that the ultimate has it and the blue doesnt.......its just not true... i can data log......injector duty cycle, injector milliseconds throttle position(used for the boost sensor) revs, timing retard/advance afm volts in and out and other stuff i cant remember....what more could you want?????

The ONLY benefit of having an ultimate in data logging is that it will show you what the afr's are in actual numbers eg 12:1 where as the blue will show you what the raw voltage from your o2 sensor is...but its very simple to have the volts to afr conversion table memorised so you can tune...oh and this only works on the afr thingonly works on the ultimate when you use the greddy sensors $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

to run the blue you need: an emanage blue with the \"support tool\" for the laptop tuning...you also need a General motors 2 bar MAP sensor( Or an MSD one) and an ignition harness. done.

Keep your ear to the ground. There might be a SAFC11 going cheap soon......
