Handbrake wont hold the car

Perhaps the D1 Pads need more heat in them to work and that's increases the problem.

Shouldn't of been my pad changing cause after changin from my worn out stocko's to some lucas pads it was sweet and right after teh D1 pads it was good to just started slowly getting worse and worse till it was completely crap - changed the cables and it still doesnt work.

D1 pads work from 0-300deg they are designed to give max grip from startup.

I'm goin to re-build my bro's old calipers and see if that helps.

Just as a side note when i pulled out the D1 pads they had heaps of dust on the surface of them, so i sanded them down till it was just clean pad material. Went for a run and it didnt work so the second time i pulled them they had that dust on them again.
Thats why i thought the disk could be imbedded with dust.
Might give them a bit of a sand too.

I'll let you guys know how i go.

Did you clean the discs when you changed pads?

Shouldn't make that much difference.

disks imbeded with dust?? that sounds a little odd...

if theres dust sitting on the pads contact area it must not be making full contact or hard enough... swear the clamping force should be more than great enough to grab the disk and stop it no matter how ratty the pads are unless they are worn that thin they dont reach the disk..

well if you do figure it out let us all know hey it sounds like one of those annoying ones.

it might be the calipers internals that are rooted and if you have another one you can play with and test that might be the way to go..

you havent bent the arm off the back of the caliper have you that the hand brake cable goes too? making it impossible to tension it to the point it once was?? you'd have to be abusing things pretty badly but you never know
