NA boot release

Postby Shadow » Fri Oct 13, 2006 6:46 pm

has anyone done one of these?

if i can find the time i might take a spin aroudn to a wreckers and try and get a cable and lever thingy and give a go on the dodgy day. most modern cars have it in the lid though. i'm guessing it can be done with a bit of fiddling.
has anyone seen or done this themselves??

Cheers,

Head to Jaycar and get one of their electric boot releases for about $35?

push button to activate it and i see them all the time on ebay (out of the jaycar box)

it come with all of the cabling, relays etc that you need.
then all you gotta do is figure where you wanna hide the button, and install it

even the instructions donbt look too hard...

no dicking around at the wreckers

I installed a similar kit to the Jaycar one when i installed the alarm.

Not too hard to do at all.

Now the number 2 button on the remote opens the boot for me 8)

You may need to modify the bracket that the factory levers mount too if you have an early NA6. It's doable but not necessarily a simple bolt in job. I've installed an electric one into an NA6 and it's a straight forward job like the other guys have said. You also have the option of mounting the switch in a concealed spot to make it harder for theives to get into the boot.

It can be if you buy the latch for later NA's and the cable to suit!
the right latch is about $80
and the new cables $75(might have to come from japan as no stock in oz)
