Just a thought...

I have had brake lines made up before out of mild steel tube (modifications on old holdens)
Would it be overkill to make an oil line from mild steel for this purpose (with a threaded collar on a bell end sort of thing) routing it via the firewall?
I have however used braided lines on other turbos and never had a problem.
The fixed line would look more like a factory setup (in my eyes anyway)
Huh?

Just went and bought the remaining hose, joiner, and clamps to hook up the boost gauge - just to get some baselines, and because it is there......

IT WORKS A TREAT!!!!! Interesting to see that under no load and cruise, intake vacuum is around 10PSI, spiking to 25-30 when backing off. Under full load, intake pressure is sitting at just under nothing, so I can't wait to see the difference when she's running 9PSI :D

I think you mean 10in.Hg? 10psi is boost :)

Those are interesting figures. At idle I get around 18-20in.Hg, with a spike to no more than 25 when backing off of the throttle.

What RPM does your engine idle at?

Running it from there actually at the suggestion of LowMiata...

If you are taking oil from the filter pickup, it
- has been filtered (good for turbo)
- is at max pressure (guaranteed flow)
- is easy to access (not like the hose pickup behind the exhaust.

A long oil line isn't a problem in my books - and it can be easily routed along the firewall - away from heat generation areas.

nanana you miss understood me

my oil line comes of where the presure sender comes out of the block
not the oil filter

another 100mm and aft alittle and you will find the oil presure sender
I only got it from there as I could buy all the parts from AVO that did it that way

nanananana - I did understand - I knew that yours taps off the oil pressure, but I can't find a fitting that will work with the oil temp sender and still keep the opil feed and pressure - that's where having that one plate comes in.

And I had the numbers off the boost gauge wrong (typed them from memory) - idle is 20. 'Peak' is around 25 on full vacuum, and WOT is at around 2 in.Hg. :D But it works nicely, and looks trick - chrome cup. I decided on the pillar pod just out of ease of installation.

I think you have to also watch where on the filter mount you grab gets the oil for those outlets from, as from what I can tell from a diagram I saw on solomiata (it's in the workshop manual) the oil is filtered and pushed into the centre.

Found it - here's the pic: http://members.aol.com/solomiata2/miataoilsystem.jpg
