Does anyone have an idea about a reclining seat that would fit?
I have dríven a couple of 5's with racing seats, and I always find them too upright (short legs and long arms, and no jokes about knuckle dragging, OK?) so I need a seat that reclines, but will also hold me well in the corners.

Cobra have these adjustable mounts. Not sure how much recline they give.

Kudo's to bigdog being the first to fit the OBX seat and find it works!

This thread made it easier for me - no hesitation in snapping one up off the Boost forums for $150 brand new and installing it in an NA last night over my $185 BRIDE seat rails bringing total cost to $335.

Good thing is that the seat rails accommodated the bucket seat without the need to drill anything.

Initial impressions is that it is a very comfortable seat - as I'm a relatively small guy, the seat could be smaller but it is good as it'd accommodate other people who are bigger than me. It is not as low as the factory seat with the rails however as bigdog mentioned, you can remove the seat cushion.

It is a tight fit in an NA - no rubbing but it's close. I can only imagine how much tighter it is in a NB but it'd still fit overall.

Some pics anyway - I reckon it's actually a FORZA model and not the Daytona wide:

Im watching these seat threads with real interest. Unfortunately, looks like the cheap option wont work for me. I am 182cm (just on 6ft) and need to be 2 inches below the roll bar. On standard seats with helmet on my melon is slightly above the bar. Looks like i will need to lose some kgs, get a sparco sprint and bolt it straight to the floor :evil: maybe a torso shortening might also be on the cards :P

Have you done the \"sit on the floor of the car\" test?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not yet, im '5 less at present......but i remember what it was like in my previous car.

I'm about 170cm tall and don't think I'll fall foul of the 2cm rule ... you can see from the pic that the top of the seat is still below my rollcage which incidentally, is way higher than a Brown Davies (unknown Jap 4pt cage).

Where I fall foul though is that the cage isn't CAMS approved - think the thickness is less than what is required.

That said, I never really intended to race the car - it's an everyday street car for me and the added protection of a bar is all I need for now.

Yeah, i suppose thats the other issue.........they reckon the Hard Dog Hard Top bar is the tallest that goes under a HT (i will have HT fitted full time) i suppose i could get one sent out by Sea from the states, not sure how much taller than a BD though.

What sort of seats are they, where bouts are the from and if you dont mind me askin how much did you pay for the pair. Im sick of standard na seats and sliding round in them when takin corners at speed.

they are from jap trading??? they were 570 delivered to Adelaide i think.. i got them ages ago so i dont quite remember. They are bride copies.

the driver sides are an almost perfect match for the stock rails!!! width is exactly the same but i had to drill new holes about 2cms lower on the rail for the backs of the seat.

the passenger side was a lot harder, i had to modify a genuine bride seat rail to get it to fit. Even then the seat is fixed in place but can still recline. The bride seat rails and big and chunky and i welded it very carefully.

Take off the "hog rings" (some shown in green circles) that hold the seat cover on and carefully lift up the seat base foam. Cut the blob off the rear bottom (where the 6 holes are in the seat pan) of the foam in one cut using an electric carving knife. Your bum will sit a bit lower.

Also try taking the foam pad out of the back rest by undoing the three "hog rings" that attach the centre pad cover to the seat back and the 6 or 8 hog rings that hold the foam pad to the seat back wire. I did all this to mine and find I sit a lot lower and that the back sort of wraps around and holds you. I used a small towel to fit inside the backrest pad cover for lumbar support. I re-used all my hog rings except for the seat back ones. The hog rings can be replaced with black zip ties. The good thing is that the seat looks normal, it's free and it's also reversible if you don't like it.

I'm 183 cm and find the seat is now very comfy whereas it was giving me the irrits before the mod.

My Cobra Monaco's are a tight fit, but they do fit, and move back and forward. The Monaco S is a bottom mount, unlike the other members of the Cobra competition family which are side mounts (so you need the brackets pictured above).

Much better under high cornering loads than the stock seats, unfortunately a smidge higher though. Getting in is an acquired movement, getting out is more difficult.
