Had a few coolant leaks so while I was replacing a couple of gaskets I also replaced the thermostat.
After doing this I am now getting @ an extra 40-50kms out of a tank of petrol. (it's now back up to a range that most other NA6s seem to be getting)
Serioulsy.
I didn't think there was any possibility of this being correct. But if the ECU was staying in warm up mode for longer than it should (ie dodgey thermostat not closing properly) and therfore running richer for longer than normal, could this be the reason for bad fuel economy?
NS
New thermostat = Better fuel economy?
