Clutch Extension

Postby RaYmO » Sat Sep 30, 2006 10:17 pm

Hi Guys,

I know the subject heading sounds wierd but hear me out...

Since installing the Sparco Sprint Seats, my GF (150cm in height) can barely drive the NA now...

She had no probs with the stock seat, but now that the Sprints are installed, she can no longer step on the clutch completely whilst maintaining a safe driving position.

Ive thought of some possible options, including adding some cushions on the Sparco Sprint to give her the ride height of the original seats as well as some form of modification to the clutch pedal.

Does anyone have any recommendations on any clutch extension or lengthening kits (Im thinking that these must be developed for the vertically challenged)...

Thanks in advance for your serious responses :D :D :D

I knew a guy who had a similar problem with wife and MGB. He made a sort of platform sole for her left shoe she used for driving by gluing on layers of rubber.......seriously. Seemed to work OK. Legal?

Or, as opposed to getting a platform shoe, perhaps some sort of platform which could be mounted onto the clutch?

in essence, a booster in height for the clutch. again, unsure of legalities, but worth a shot, and better than having a pissed off GF!

Good luck

I'd be fixing the actual issue myself. Adding, changing or modifying the clutch mechanism is a major piece of work and for a road car would almost certainly have to be engineered. You'd be better off fitting some sliders to the sparco or fitting the original seats back to the car.
