Okay, well wasn't that fun :)

Firstly, it is a LOT harder than I thought. Everything happens so fast and I got confused and left it in Drive and on the first run I didn't even look at the lights at all and left the line when I saw the other guy screaming down the track :D

The first run was a 16.1 @ 142kmh with a 2.7 60ft. Needless to say this was rather disappointing :)

Second run was 16.5 @134km/h with a 2.4 60ft. This is the run where I left it in Drive (and not in power mode either) so it shifted at 5500rpm.

Third run was 15.9 @142km/h with a 2.6 60ft.

Last run was 15.8 @144km/h with a 2.560ft.

I had dropped the boost to 7psi (and 130rwkw) to be safe and that had hurt the launches. I could only spool up 3psi on the line and that wasn't nearly enough to spin the tyres at all. I did do the burnouts though, which were fun but probably lame-looking with only one tyre smoking :D

I'm kinda hooked now and want to go back with more tweaks to hopefully get into the 14s (14.999999 will do), but at the moment I am consoling myself with the fact that 15.8 is at least 1.1s faster than stock!

It was funny...I had my bonnet open (like everyone else) in the queue, and lots of guys would come by and the reaction was usually:

\"SICK! 13b Turbo! What times you doin man?\"
\"Just did a 16.5\"

...and you could just see the look on their faces....\"but, but...it's a ROTARY....they're meant to be GOOD for drag racing!\"

On one run I lined up against a 9.8 second car... when he did the burnout the whole universe filled up with V8 roar and I thought the Luce was going to shake itself to bits right then and there....and yes he went over the line with sufficient time to spare that I could see his ET and trap speed on the giant board well before I shifted to 3rd gear :D

Heheh good on you for giving it a go. I was out there last night too in my lancer GSR, i'm having some annoying knock sensor issues and could only manage a 14.7.

You say now that you only want a 14.9999... but when you get that you will suddenly 'only' want 13.999, etc etc :lol:

GSR? I prolly walked past your car a few times...I was in Lane 4, I think you were in Lane 5...

But 14.7? Pffft....you'll be eating my rubber dust when I implement my "tweaks" :D:D

Had my first ever run at WSID on Wednesday night and ended up with a 13.589 @106.39 MPH and a 60ft time of 2.226 . Perhaps someone with drag knowledge could tell me how those numbers look. Obviously I'm happy enough with the time but I don't know much about the other numbers.

gotta be turbo?

60ft can be better for that time.

Yeh, turbo. Just running 185/60/14 road rubber at 17 PSI and adjusted damper settings as suggested. The car also had a full tank of fuel for what it's worth. It was good fun and kept my workmates Skyline at bay(14.5) :lol:

106mph means there's plenty left in it yet...

Yeh, thanks Verne. Can't wipe the smile of my face with this car at the moment! I've pulled back on the trackwork until I get a decent radiator. I just can't see the value in a PWR.

Just keep your eyes open, you may find a second hand higher capacity radiator floating around somewhere. $788 for the big 54mm PWR one for the NA.

The guys that race may know someone else who can make them for the MX5.

I thought I had it dialled in! I'm tempted to try my R spec rubber but i'm worried the extra grip will smash the gearbox.
