Glad I refused them at my last service, prefer the normal jobbies that get turfed and renewed more often! 8)

Yes he is

He bought the fancy plugs to start with

I've never found any magic in spark plugs, as long as they are the right heat range, gapped appropriately and in good condition they will work fine, no matter what brand or fancy hype they carry.

I've seen cars make over 500hp on $3.50 NGK plugs after taking out $20 fancy (won't say the name) plugs that gave no more power or economy.

fark....thats gotta hurt. But look .... I'm sure we can all be acused of doing something stupid, where commonsense just wasn't around. or had decided to go on a few weeks leave.

I hope your Coil pack finds a home where its needed.
I'm with Craig. I swap spark plugs every 5k km with the oil & filter.

Mine's still on leave, if anyone finds it, can you shoot it back my way?

Cheers

Check your PCV valve from your cam cover to the top of your intake plenum is working.

If its stuffed it will try and suck air in from the cam cover and that will foul the plugs.

If that doesnt work, borrow someones AFM and see if that fixes things.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

i dont know if this makes me a bigger idiot or less an idiot... BUT i was right it wasnt the plugs :P AND wrong.. they wernt burnt out.. iridium's have a odd shapped electrode to start with

car was missing as normal at wake field.. only got 2 outtings before it started to show and in the third outing was just plain unberrable.... very frustrating.

Gilly. i dont have an ERG pipe   but! it is fairly warm back there.. might be worth a shot.

Okibi. that PCV valve just a one way valve?? or it an electronicly regulated thingy??

PCV valve explanation here

The plug leads and plugs should really be changed every 20,000 - 30,000 km. The MX-5 is hard on these things because it uses a wasted spark system i.e. two leads/plugs fire at the same time. This is twice the rate of most engines which only fire one plug and lead for the cylinder on compression.

The car runs like cr@p when the leads start breaking down under load. Anyway, a new set won't be wasted if they don't fix it because you will eventually use them.
