Event Report

Postby Russellb » Sun Sep 24, 2006 6:56 pm

Well What a Day. Got up at 5:30 to leave Canberra buy 6:30
arvived at the track and unloaded the Car,Check the tyre's
First run out and took it easy jus tgetting back into the swing of things.
Posted a time in the mid 1:14's  but towards thje end of that run noticed the temp gauge was almost to the H . Pull into the pit garage
and pop the Bonnet only to see a GLOWING TURBO :? BUGGER.
So I let it Idle for 15 or so min's. the next run I kept a close Eye on the temp gauge and on lap 3 it started to rise again so I made a slow last lap to let thing cool of a bit. This time when I got back to the Garage the Turbo wasn't glowing. I posted a 1:13.88 PB. next sesion the temp gauge was going up after lap 2 made a slow lap 3 and then another hot lap on 4
and posted a 1:13.45 :D back in the pits I removed the Lefthand head light and pop the light to Half way. also checked the data loging intake temps of +110deg c . Didn't change anything to the ECU Map
and did the regularaty. with short shifting at 5500 I did 6 laps in the 1:14's
and no over heating 8). the Next session we had a bit of Rain had some big moments but never left the track .
The last session of the day the track was still damp and cold but still managed to put in a 1:13.54 fastest of anyone in the Arvo ( I think )
I also ran out of brake into turn 2 at 140+, Not nice

Brilliant times Russ. Good to hear the dodgy cooling mod was a success.
