Why do a conversion?????

Just build up a '99 engine with forged pistons and rods some mild cams and a big turbo from something like a STI subaru upgrade...a guy in our local club has his Mazda GTR engined car running 195RWKW at modest boost so that HP target is very achievable using a late model BP engine.

if its for show. find a sexy engine not something plastic.. something with class...

i'd be looking for something with alot of pistons and a low capacity and go RPM nuts. even if it dosnt make 240rwkw it will sound like an F1 car  , look sexy under the bonnet 8) and if you keep it NA will be driveable.... not that thats needed in a show car i guess..

There's already a Ferrari engine in an MX-5
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Id reccommend buying a FD/s6,7,8 Rx7 motor, Get a good big port rebuild for around $6/7000 and with a nice big turbo/injectors it could handle more than 300kw! and id say would be more reliable then a 240kw mazda 4cyl...
and a s6 gbox wouldnt break easily either!
either way you will be spending some money to acheive your goal...

If it's only built as a show car/dyno queen then the 2.0+ BP's from the states are the way to do it.

If you intend on abusing the car dragging or drift etc, then the SR20 conversion would be worth thinking about. Due to picking up the SR 5-speed gearbox as well. Both the BP and the SR are more than capable of making the grunt... but the SR 5-Speed will have more of a chance of staying together.

Why not just buy a S6-S8 RX7

Chop the roof off it and engineer the NB windscreen & hood onto it. Would probably be easier and more 'unique' than a modded 5... just a thought :D

i think you might be onto something there BigDog..
How SEXY is the S6... with the added sexyness of being a drop top too, that would be a dead set show winner, with of course, the chrome, TV screens, white leather 24\" chromies as much power in the stereo as in the motor, a PHATT Twin turbo etc etc

i would like to see that ( and have the dosh to do parts of it!)

how about a centre mounted seat and a \"suicide\" positioned shifter as well.

It would be awesome
