Cold starting is always teh worst thing to sort out you get maybe 2 goes at it per day .
So it can be a bit of a pain to get right . As for the A/C you have to tell the ECU what you want it to do Again no hard just a bit of trial and Error
With the wolf can you change the Injectors to Serquentl?? the 1.6 uses batch fire

This is why I would do my best to get what I want using a piggy-back. I think it's worth the extra effort to leave the stock ECU in to control all the little things.

Just my 2c

I didn't mean to that the after market ECU where bad Just that those few thimg take time to sort out .
I have an Autronic and after a week (morning & night tuning)I had the it running like factory I even got the A/C to idle up
The Best bit is If there is a problem somewhere just plug in the lap top and start Data logging
Then go for a drive find the problem and fix it

Yep, I understand that countless people run standalone ECUs without problem, but to me, it just isn't worth the cost and messing around. Others can't see the point in piggy backs, they would rather the extra cost for the extra options, that is fine too.

The whole problem is there is no one that has the full experience of all the options, diff ecu's piggy etc.
To overcome my cold start i give it 2 short cranks then on the third it starts.
i got rid of my aircon so i cant answer questions about the aircon.
keep in mind im very simple person when it comes to electronics and i do not understand all the mumbojumbo that comes with trying to tune my own ecu. i leave it to the pro's. my car hasnt missed a beat sine being on the dyno and the best thing is it's only $400 away from having the boost turned up and dyno tuned.

There’s no doubt I think the Autronic is a better ECU, but it's a lot more expensive to buy/install.

The wolf's had a bad reputation for cold start issues, I think that was mostly because its a product that appeals to those on a tight budget who don't spend much time/money on dyno tuning or good dyno tuners and don't bother to leave their car on the dyno over night so the tuner can actually tune some cold starts.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

I made a Plug and Play Adaptor Took about 4 Hr to wire on the bench
then another Hour to get it going in the car.
So if you have a spare computer plug you wont be with out the car very long. Are you coming to the track day next weekend ? If so I can show you Pilsners( has SM4 Autronic ) and Mine SMC

Hey Zen, see Boyracer's recent post about 1/3 of the way down the page ref the Wolf & cold starts:

Pic of my ECU. Looks like the car is Wolf plug-in compatible then.

I've gotta stop reading this sort of thing, my fingers just start to twitch. Maybe I should order a Megasquirt just for the fun of it. Call it mental "recreation".

The plug in is an advantage but in reality, it doesn't make a lot of difference to the end product. From memory I wired in my EMS in under a day - took another week to get it going though! If you like software, check out Haltechs latest version of Halwin. It is a very nice bit of gear. Resolution is the thing that seperates the good from the average in ECUs, combined with the number of input and output channels which determines what you can control. 8)

Outwardly identical to mine other than the sticker reads 4591 & *004591J instead of 4593 & *004593L
