King Springs...what are the rates?

I recall asking previously and they said nothing more enlightening than \"30% stiffer than OEM\" - OEM is about 160/100.

Which would be about 210/130...

Hi Rob, it had to dig around but yep:

Kings 240/128
Mazdaspeed 218/158
R/Beat 226/124
Stock 166/110
FM 342/228

(For NA8C models)

For the record, I have also just fitted SE bilstein and Mazdaspeed spring combo to an NA AND NB8B Showas with Kings progressive spings to an NA and both were quite good especially for semis, bit soft for slicks though. 8)

Seeing i've got you blokes all in the one place i would like to run this set up by you -

Tein S-Tech Springs 235lb F / 163lb R
KYB AGX
1nch (25.4mm) Front bar
12mm Rear bar

This is for an NA8 to be used for supersprints and the like (road reg'd)
The thing about the above set up is i already have the springs, and can get hold of the other parts for $700 total.

Otherwise i will just forget the S-techs and go for some Tein Coilovers and a front bar.

Hey Rob, seeing as its a track only car, that should work well. Chuck in some offset camber bushes front and rear from Fulcrum and you will be on the money. FWIW, with a 25.4 mm front bar, you might need a 14mm adjustable rear bar to get it balanced - a very good fit I'd say if you do but stick with what you've got and see what the balance is like. Also, don't forget to add the underbody braces if you need them. Good to see you are back in the MX5 fraternity! 8)

That setup has a very high front roll couple percentage (66.5%), which would equate to understeer... You could use a 14mm rear bar and be pretty balanced (62.4%), but a 5/8 (or a 16mm) rear might have a hint of oversteer (~57%).

alternatively, drop the front bar selection back to a 22mm and it should be very well balanced (60.1%).

Some shorter bumpstops, and you should be good to go.

Chris / Matty how about using an NB Mounts and Bumpstops (like FCM / Chikara from the states) Would the extra travel be worthwile on the track?

I'd be inclined go with stock and test just how much you sit on the bumpstops first. If you use shortened ones (such as AU falcon ones), it might not be too big an issue. I don't think it's a killer for the track. Another option is the FM rear mounts or the NOPRO ones. If I were you, I'd just save that money for better coilovers which will reduce that problem and give you a step improvement over the entire handling of the car. 8)

Thats the thing....put in the FM mounts and i am up to 1100+..... when i can get Tein Basic's in the Spec that the Miataforum guys rave about for $1300 delivered.

Guys - thanks for your input...in the end i have gone with Tein Basics 7kg/6kg and will get a large front bar.

Get the FatCat Motorsports spreadsheet and choose a sway bar setup based on the FRC%... Stick close to the OEM setup (60%) and you shouldn't go wrong.
