The question still remains as to why on ASE05's dyno chart, the power dies off after ~5600rpm. Either it's running out of injector duty cycle (possible for sure), or the turbo is running out of puff (too low in the rev range I would suspect) or ????? I would really love to know what the tuner said.

2006 Z06 Corvette - 650hp of wow!

BEEZER!
QUOTE:'The stock MSM turbocharger is a little strangled. The exhaust side is nice and big but the compressor is tiny. With some careful selection, we found a compressor wheel that could be installed in the stock compressor housing with a little machining. All the externals are unchanged so this is a straight bolt-on upgrade. On our car, we saw an extra 50 hp at 6500 rpm.'
thats the ticket...
so 200ishRWKW on standard internals.. thats starting to sounds interesting.
now all i gotta do is find out whats diff between the SE block and a NB8A block.

Why bother!Save your upgrade $$$ and just buy one, simpler for insurance and ADR rules!
Look better too!
dunno craig. SE 31K
sell my 5 maybe 18 if im lucky then i gotta raise 12K..
if i keep mine and buy bits here and there, i can drive mine and have fun with it as it gets better and hopefully stay under the 10K mark
okibi... god damn thats tiny...
but im not greedy... a bit over 200KW at the wheels would be just fine. should spool up well too

I used to think the same when I was younger (so much younger than today...never needed anybodies help in any way...cough cough) but seriously mate don't spend money on an old car thats worth 2-3K extra after spending 10-15K on it chasing the 'fun factor' when you can have the real deal and a better resale. Take if from a real noddy (yes me!

Yes it's the car you love 'here and now' but emotion can sometimes be a silly motivation for a young fella.

Sportcompactcar wrote:This new intake system uses a pneumatically actuated butterfly valve to effectively increase or decrease the length of the intake runners. The shorter the runners, the better the volumetric efficiency at higher engine speeds. The longer they are, the better volumetric efficiency at lower and middle engine speeds. This relationship has a lot to do with the speed and timing at which the column of air rushes through the intake runner and fills the cylinder. To test the effectiveness of the VICS system, we yanked off its vacuum control line. This, in essence, set the effective running length into "short mode." On the dyno, we discovered a very evident 5 to 7 lb-ft reduction in mid-range torque. On the road, partial throttle response also deteriorated. Needless to say (but we'll say it anyway), VICS works very well.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

nah dude not like that. i do like my car, but i'd swap it for an SE any day.
its just i cant afford to go out and buy an SE as much as id love. this is seemingly the only way i can keep a 5 on apprentice wages and work towards a car ill know and be happy with..
