Eastern Creek 1/4 mile drags

Postby Forced Fives » Fri Aug 25, 2006 8:13 pm

I went to the Wednesday night drags at Eastern Creek this week for the first time. There where 2 other MX5's there and about 200 cars in total (full house). A big mix of cars and a few bikes.

Apparently if you get about 1 dozen cars or more together you can get your own waiting lane which means you can run against each other. I thought there maybe a few people on the forum who may want to try and organise something for one of the nights. The cost to enter a car is only $45 and you normally get at least 4 runs apparently. If you have your own lane it means at least you have a chance to get together for a chat as there is a bit of waiting around.

Hi Bigdog

Time slip below. Can't say I showed any poo brown Corollas the way but got whooped by a bush mechanics datsun 1200 who ran a 11.7 i think. The car I ran on the slip was a pretty serious gut in a 200SX so that was nice.

My car went a little better than I expected. I went with saying I would be happy of I could get into the 13's.

That's a good time FF. Were you running R-specs or road tyres? I'd like to give the "Tinkered One" a go one night. Just waiting for my work collegue to fix the clutch in his Skyline. The Bull***t stops when the flag drops or something like that. :D

Hi Al,

I have Falken 651's on the car (they are my road tyres) but think road tyres are probably as good unless you do a huge burnout as they are dead cold when you get to the line.

Very nicely done indeed!!

The Corolla was a '73/74 jobbie with 3 different shades of poo brown paint, wide steel wheels and a 'stealth' turbo install - let down slightly by boting the FMIC to the front bumper, in front of the grille! My guess is it probably had a 2l Nissan motor and went like a blur, but maybe it was only a 1300 with a fake intercooler and loud exhaust...

If I tried a \"Burnout\" I'd likely run over some unsuspecting official. Pretty good at wheelspin though. 2nd gear is my specialty!

The old rough as Datsun 1200 that ran 11.7 had a rough SR 20 turbo in it and probably weigged 700kg with no intercooler but I suppose if you run it for 12 odd secongs you may get some life out of it.

There was a moster S2000 running 11.7 as well wich was pretty serious.

It doesn't sound like the Dato would do many laps around wakefield. Was the S 2000 turbo? I think that would be a good combo.

The S2000 was turbo and was shooting flames out the exhaust.

The S2000 was turbo and was shooting flames out the exhaust.

From what I heard his car was pinging and he was letting off over the last 100 - 200m. He was there to get into 10s so he was not too happy. I think he's going back next week (if they have the problems sorted out) to try and get into 10s.
Regards,
David
