SP motorsport exhaust

Postby JSE » Thu Aug 10, 2006 6:08 pm

Alright guys and girls,

After being inspired by a mate who just put a HKS Hi Power cat-back on his S15 I have decided next on the to-do list is an exhaust. Now I want to find out if anyone has put a HKS exhaust system on their NA and how it is?
I have dríven an NA with a HKS Super Dragger on the back before and it is LOUD. I don't care about the loud factor as it does not irritate or bother me.
I want to know if I can source a HKS cat-back exhaust from anywhere here in sydney locally or someone on this forum or if I will need to import it myself via the internet.

Additionally I would like to know if anyone has put a cat-back exhaust system from Mx5 Mania on their NA and how it is? Is it loud and give the car a bit of a kick in the pants? Or it just there for the show side of things?

So after much hunting I can't find a HKS exhaust system for the NA anywhere brand new. SO i'm going to just go with the SP Motorsport exhaust system. WHoever has one, could you please comment on how they are? performance? economy wise? noise?

Any help would be great,
Joel

There's at least 2 cars in the NSW CLub that I know of with the SP Motorsports exhaust system, and the 2 owners are very happy with them.
They are a little on the loud side, but not too bad.
One of the owners gained over a second at Wakefield after he fitted it and he was stoked!

Only just saw this thread. Already replied to your PM though. For those interested on my thoughts, this is the PM:
Gday Joel,
I think it's awesome. The sound is great. I have a resonator in it so is not raspy or droning and it's definitely not too loud. I drive it everyday so didn't want anything loud. I can happily potter around in it but when I give it some, it roars like a bitch!

Fuel consumption goes up a little but I am still easily getting 9L/100km with mostly peak hour traffic.

Power definitely increased. Out of the modified NB8Bs my car was the highest performer. The only ones that came near it was NB8As. zoomzoom (CAI, extractors, and exhaust) made 82.5kw and Irin83r's (CAI, exractors, exhaust) made 83.2kw.

Mine only has a Pod filter and the SP motorsport exhaust (no extractors) and made 82.5kw. That's not even a proper intake or aftermarket extractors so the exhaust is the thing that pushed the power up.
