Looks like the NA will be needing the Kings Springs high lift kit next STM, and some good skinny winter tread tyres for grip in the dirt & snow. Coupla big 9 inch spotties on that new bumper, some Yosemite Sam mudflaps, coupla spare wheels mounted on the bootlid, a Halda and map light for Mrs STM and you're in business!!
Has anyone actually rallied a 5 on dirt before? You could be the first Stan!

Mazda sponsored Rally Australia way back when I did my first one in 1990.
Car Zero that year was an MX-5 dríven by Colin Bond and co-driven by the late John Dawson Damer.
Word has it that the car was falling apart from the get-go. Back then it was a real rally that went for about 5 days over every type of road, not the smooth sprint rally it is now.
Murray's right. Bad idea.

I remember one of the first rally australias had Colin Bond driving one as the 0 car. Word was that the service crew were busy boys, screwing bits back on all weekend.
When I first got my mx5, I was considering importing another one to use as a fun Khanacross/Autocross machine. But it just doesn't put the power down worth a damn on gravel. Amusing low speed slides though.
Having said that, a mate of mine has almost finished a supercharged MR2 which he imported specifically for Khanacrosses. Can't wait to see what it is like on gravel with some decent tyres. I think it could knock our Hyundai off the podium if he can keep it straight.

So that's what it looks like!!! I recall flying 2 hrs, then driving for 2hrs to go to some spectator point on SS1 in RoM, and never saw that thing go past me.
GT4s - ST165 feels like a rocketship, not because it is fast but because it felt agricultural. ST185 - very comfortable, soaks up all the bumps in the dirt. ST205 - Big comfy grunty boat, but never drove one on dirt. I wish I bought that one for sale 2 years ago!! Mind you, none of these were works cars or like Graham's I imagine.
