They'll be too busy oohing and aahing over the chicken to help, if the mx5parts ordering was any indication. I've never heard so many different words of praise for chicken before.

I have a timing belt kit etc, but alas, the block needs to be machined first. And I cant' do that without pistons, so I'm stuck. PLUS, the engine would be on a stand and I don't really want to mess around by driving around with an engine in the boot and the stand legs on the passenger seat.

r0gue's only a maybe. I barely get to speak to the guy nowadays as he's either too busy or ... too busy.

I won't actually have anything to do to my car on the day - I've already installed the indicators + reflectors, and the rest of the gear I bought was for the original engine that's in the garage. But I'd be happy to help someone else out with theirs.

I have no dodginess to undertake at present, but you and I can amuse ourselves with brakefluid, beer, and the challenge to remove bling from Wayne and Jules and reallocate it without them noticing.

Speaking of dodgy days, JBT and myself just had two dodgy days pulling my motor & box out and putting it back in again. We did the timing belt, water pump, cam seals, front & rear crank seals, CAS 'O' ring, spigot bearing, oil change for engine and box and oil filter. :mrgreen:

The cam shaft shifter clamping setup worked well.

Tool for pushing the cam seals in square.

Hey, that's my camshaft clamp method!

It works really well, but if you're solo it's really hard to keep the shfters in place while trying to wind the clamp on. I use the quick release C-clamps for that as you can do them up with one hand.

Sorry I wasn't able to loan a hand. I was all set til you sent me the PM that you were going to do it later in the day. But it looks like things were well and truly under control there.

Did you have a similar tool for pushing the front and rear oil seals on?

WOW... that garage is far too organised ! Never will the word DODGY be uttered around JBT whils he has a spanner in his hand.

Love the dunnypipe !

What was the point of taking the motor out ? Just because you could ? or to help with access etc ? Was there anything specifically you did to require an engine drop ?

There is still room in that garage for a keg and deep fryer though !

i think it was either dropping the gearbox or pulling the engine & gearbox out together.

i think its earier to pull out the engine and gearbox as a whole... not to mention its easier to work on an engine out of the car!

The spigot bearing was stuffed. It lives at the back of the engine in the flywheel, so the transmission and motor have to be separated to get at it.

Yes I have tools for front and rear oil seals as well. Makes the job very
easy.

Its a piece of Plastic (Acetal) rod that I turned up on a lathe at work.

I had to take the box out to do the spigot bearing. I knew the CAS was leaking but I didn't know If any thing else was. So we opted to pull the whole thing out. Yes it is a big job (made easy-er with JBT and air tools) but It does make everything else very ease to work on though.
