Gremlins in Electrics

Postby greenMachine » Sat Jul 29, 2006 12:48 am

I have been having some strange electrical gremlins for a little while, have replaced battery and alternator, but they won't go away :frown:

What happens is that the hazard light flashes two or three times, sometimes the doorlocks make a low clunk sound, as if a halfhearted effort to lock the car.

I have heard that the factory alarm has a low voltage sensor, which will trigger the alarm if someone cuts power to it. If true this suggests I still have a problem somewhere in the charging system, or maybe a loose connection?

Anyone else out there experienced this, or have any suggestions?
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

How often is it dríven? How long between decent drives. If you regularly leave it more than 3 or 4 days, you may need to invest in a trickle charger (one that works via the cigar lighter socket should be fine) or the alarm system may drain your battery, particularly with microwave or (heaven forbid) ultrasonics.

It sounds like an alarm issue to me.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
