When i was checking it all out the following is the general ghist of what i found out ..or should/would have to follow...
1. Submit a Premission to modify form the Transport department, and get
approval before doing the mod (ooops!)

2. Make sure the kit complies with ADR 37/00 for emissions which was last
amended in 1988, Otherwise in sA if you dont do a engine swap with an already approved turbo engine and make your own kit on a stock nat asp. engine the engineer told me, youre up for $4000 to $6000 for a 'proper' emissions test to satisfy the ADR (ie 'not' a probe reading at your local tuner). which by the way we arent even guaranteed to pass..
3. Now we need an engineer to carry out a handling and braking test,
which is like b*llsh*t anyway for another $3000 worth.
Theoretically the car will still stop just as well from the same speed as well as corner, ive really only added like an extra 20Kg of weight if that. So its just annoying and most likely just a money making scheme. I suppose they're just trying to keep a balance between being able to accel harder so therefore be able to stop harder... but this process as mentioned by astro they almost do it for free in eastern states in comparison??
But I do think for my own good a brake upgrade is highly recommended.
They will also more than likely recommend the gearbox , diff and brakes be upgraded. which might be another $2 to $4K worth for good stuff.
I would be completely detuning my car to run on like 2psi before letting the engineer and regency drive it.
The other annoying thing is that regency has a list of preferred engineers that they want you to use in SA for the engineering process...
4. For myself to put it through regency id have to convert all back to stock as possible so theyve nothin to pick on.
SA is notoriously strict on modified cars and Its a hell of a nightmare but i
think they just do it to try and scare people from modifying theircars, and itsonly those that are serious that spend the money to do it.
I think this is why we dont have that compulsory road worthy test every re rego like NSW etc.
Hope some that helps ..
Luke.
