Hahaha, JBT, do you find 10:42 to be late. Get some slippers and a nice woolen rug to wear over you as you sip your nice warm cocoa

I was still up at 11:30 watching \"The Butcher\" take on another human dissection

Bah - formal Shmormal.

It was posted here first. Make it club membership optional (cause I'm not in a financial position to be forking out the equivalent of $130 just to go karting with the club, when it costs only $50 not to).

That way anyone from here can attend too, and it's not discrimatory or exclusive. If you want a club only karting event, then post it through the club mechanisms ONLY.

I think that sounds fair and reasonable. Anyone care to dissent?

I'll even bloody well organise it, seeing as I've been there, and know people who have organised similar before - might be able to do a deal.

Agreed AJ. Gawd some of you get hot in the tubes when \"the club\" is mentioned. The reasons I mentioned it were:

1. The original poster said
When we were leaving we thought how much fun it wuld be if the MX5 club hired out one of these venues for a day or something?

2. Mostly club members responded in the affirmative to the karting idea;
3. Many club members don't look in this forum but may be keen to try karting and advertising it as a club event could help get more people along;
4. It would be something a bit different for a club event; and
5. It would take the heat off the club committee (organisers of just about all club events) if newish members put something on.

I really don't give a freakin' toss either way but please don't make a big issue out of this.

I wasn't on my high horse AJ (besides - I've seen some of your contributions and I'd say you were calling the kettle black).

I personally don't give a fat rat's arse if the club wants to run a karting day. I'm not against there being a club karting event. I didn't say the club is bad, and I didn't imply the club is bad.

HOWEVER - I did say the idea of a karting event was posted HERE. This is not the club forum - it should not be treated nor taken as such. People from here who are in the club said yes to karting. People from here who are NOT in the club also said yes to karting.

Therefore, if you take an event from here and make it a club event, then anyone from here who hasn't joined the club is left out.

The recent dodgy day wasn't a club event was it? Noone was able to say they couldn't participate.

The buy your bits at Wayne's place wasn't a club event. They were both posted, promoted and attended via here.

So build a bridge and get over it AJ. There are people on the forum who want a go kart event, and don't think it NEEDS to be club sanctioned (it's not like if you're not a member of the forum you can't come is it), so leave it out of the club and let anyone who wants to go, go.

In my opinion the club and the forum serve the same end, providing an outlet for mx5 enthusiasts.

Isnt that enough?

At any rate i was going to talk to peter from the brisbane club and see if he wanted to send the word around the club itself, whether or not he chooses to do such is no skin of my nose.

I just want to go karting and whip the pants of you all... :P

They do, but forum events don't restrict attendance to forum members only, whereas club events do, which isn't a problem if you have joined, but some here haven't.

*looks up at Uncle Arthur on his black stallion*........you STILL up there???

obviously you are a man of conviction when it comes to \"the club\".....why, i don't know, & don't WANT to know................how about a compromise??.........how about it's advertised here AND on the club website......with the emphasis on \"informal\".............obviously as we'd all drive there individually, it is not a \"club run\" & therefore the issue on insurance doesn't count............BUT, maybe the \"club\" can negotiate a good group rate...............i don't know, but it's worth a try???...................on a personal note, i'd prefer it to be on a weekend day, when i'm relaxed & able to enjoy it...............& maybe a BBQ & bullshit afterwards.........but that's just me...........majority rules i guess 8)

as for me & the way i conduct myself here & anywhere else............i ain't gunna change......so tough titties :P :P .............if i feel the need to say something, i do, whether anyone else likes it or not..........you wanna butt heads with me???........i'm always up for it

PS: why don't you come out on a club run UA???.................pay ya 4 bucks & try it out...............from what i've been told, things have changed.............i know i certainly enjoy the runs i've been on.....................& the \"after run\" runs with a smaller group.....carn, suck it & see........you might be surprised

even if it's just to TRY & stick it up a certain NC LE driver

Only one reason why I don't come - time. I've been in the club, left the club, hated the previous admin, think the new direction is AWESOME, and managed to get along for Loch's Memorial.

Having had car troubles until only recently kind of knobbled me a bit, and The Minister for Home Affairs and I don't get much time through the week as a rule (with me running a business and all), so the weekends are invariably filled with stuff that needs to get done, and she gets bored on club car runs, so I don't get to go much.

And over and above that, my adding another red NA to add to the bunch will make your black NC (I'm not a real MX5) feel even more alone. :D

actually shweetheart, the red ones at club runs are looking like missing teeth atm...........the two TRUE colours, black & white are swamping that colour which is generally associated with a feeling of embarrassment :P :P :P

I know they're fun..... :)

I've gone back and checked my original post - the words 'the club is bad' aren't there - not even in a variation on a theme.

And I want to go karting too.

Great post a few back AJ :D

Don't change, we like to prod you just the way you are. You add colour (even if your car doesn't).

People don't always have to change but the circumstances around them often do.
If I cast my mind back to a time around hmmmm...2001, I had just bought Malibu, and a certain tinted haired gent who now drives a \"rice\" coloured car gave me this sage advice. \"Yeah it may be a nice colour now, but just wait till you try to offload it. You'll have trouble selling an MX-5 in THAT colour I'm telling you.\"

And monkeys might fly out of my butt!
