Turbo ENVY

Postby Astroboysoup » Wed Jul 26, 2006 9:33 am

sooo... i've noticed that EVERYONE else is finally installing their turbo set ups on to their cars.. some very nice installs too...

So i have mine sitting on the floor of the garage still and im starting to get envy. Getting very annoyed with ppl dragging me too lately and just not having the power to whip them in half.

Anyway, going to start... oooh.. today.

Have a few things to clean up and makre sure they're working right so a little drive around today.

Stay tuned for pics and more.

Astroboysoup, what are you planning to install? Is it an off the shelf kit or bits from here and there?

yeh its bits and pieces from all over the place.

Stainless steel manifold (which is getting cleaned up right now) and 3\" dump pipe made to sit similar to the greddy kit.

TD04 turbo from the GSRs, just finished cleaning it and had it checked out for shaft play. all in good order.

1.8 injectors with tested 230cc flow. - emanage can control these nicely

RX7 top mount intercooler that i'm going to front mount

Greddy E-Manage - controls both injection and timing

RX7 air flow metre for that little bit more flow. the emanage can compensate and control it so all good there.

pirtek i promised can do my hoses and lines. :)

umm can't think of what else there was.

Do you have any plans to change your gearing at all?

Sounds good Astro, here is some other bits that I added to my overall Turbo project.

Bigger brakes from a NA8

Diff from a NB (Torsen recommended)

And be ready to upgrade the diff if it starts to slip.

from what ive researched the 230cc will be sufficient for my 5psi turbo job

i'll upgrade further down the track when i get power hungry. i figure this will limit my speeds fuel consumption and what ever else

as for the diff and clutch set up.. yes i'll have to upgrade the clutch.... mine is already a bittier aftermarket clutch so i'll see how it goes with the boost first

as for the diff and brakes, i figured since im not doing a huge boost upgrade, i won't need bigger brakes, just better rotors and pads... and the diff.. yeh that will be a problem.... would a kaaz 1.5 way be good enough back there with the 1.6 drive train?

Til it breaks, or catches fire, etc etc *looks at Sheck* :)

I thought you'd abandoned your aftermarket turbo plans?

Astro, do you mind telling us the process for getting it legally engineered for SA?
